I will be speaking at Rep. Ron Paul’s weekly Congressional luncheon on Thursday May 26.  The topic: “Reasons to Kill: Why Americans Choose War.”  Congressman Paul, a Texas Republican and libertarian, is a political figure whose spirit (not necessarily his economic views) reminds one of other great mavericks like Jeannette Rankin, “Fighting Bob” La Follette, and Wayne Morse.  A candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, he stands firmly in the Whig tradition that rejects U.S. empire-building in the name of limited government and individual liberty.  I’m looking forward to talking to him and his colleagues.

On Tuesday June 14, I will be speaking at the Unitarian-Universalist Church on George Mason Drive in Arlington, Virginia at 11:00 a.m. on “Religious Conflict: Its Causes and Cures.”  And on June 21, I will be appearing at the George C. Marshall International Center in Leesburg, Virginia at 6:30 p.m. to talk about “Reasons to Kill” in the light of current events, including the Arab revolts.  The public is invited to attend the event at 217 Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg.
